Peter McDowell Arts Consulting wishes a very happy 70th birthyear to Chicago-based Canadian composer Patricia Morehead (check out her new web site, designed and developed by PerformSites – Peter McDowell and Ari Salomon). In honor of the Pat’s 2010 birthday, WFMT.com in Chicago will feature Pat’s music, performed by the CUBE ensemble, on January 24, 2011 at 8PM  (You can stream the broadcast online).

In other news for Ms. Morehead, her  newest composition –”Un giorno nuovo” — is a song written for soprano Natalie Mann, who will premiere it in Chicago and New York City in February, 2011 (further details to be announced shortly). The work is based on a poem written in Italian by Cathy Ann Elias, who teaches at DePaul University and who has been a finalist in several poetry competitions in Italy. “Un giorno nuovo” is a rather dark poem and Pat reflects this mood in her setting.
