Act I, Scene 1 (Jaap’s Aria) – concert 4.24

This recording of Jaap’s aria from Steal a Pencil for Me was done in concert in April 2012, with the composer Gerald Cohen as baritone soloist, together with the Cassatt String Quartet.

The aria is from Act I, Scene 1 of the opera. Jaap, unhappily married to Manja, sees Ina across the room at a party, and immediately thinks: “There’s the girl I should have married…”
