artsrockland_mediumPeter McDowell Arts Consulting will be offering the seminar “The Basics of Self Promotion for Performing Artists” at the offices of the Arts Council of Rockland, as part of their 2010 Professional Development Workshop Series.  The presentation will take place on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Arts Council of Rockland located at 55 Railroad Avenue, Building 24, Suite A in Garnerville, New York.

The Expo will take place on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center. Our workshop will take place at 2:30pm in Preston Bradley Hall East.

This workshop is designed to give musicians, composers, dancers, and other performing artists some simple tools and strategies for marketing and publicizing your career, your creations and your performances. imageThe Golden Key Salon Series at Bechstein features new and distinguished performers, wine receptions and premiere performances. Concerts are on the first Thursday of the month, October through May at the Bechstein Piano Centre, 207 West 58th Street, New York. All performances begin at 7:00pm

The next salon will greet the season with Beethoven’s wonderfully fresh and inspired “Spring” Sonata for violin and piano. The program will also include some beautiful Ukrainian piano pieces and Chopin’s great Sonata for cello and piano.

The concert on Thursday, April 1st features performances by the G# Duo (Yelena Grinberg, piano and Emilie-Anne Gendron, violin), pianist Pavel Gintov, cellist Aron Zelkowicz, and pianist Vanessa Fadial. Works by Beethoven, Skoryk, Shostakovich and Chopin will be performed.

Suggested donation: $20 general admission; $10 for students with ID

On Wednesday, April 14, 2010, Saxophonist Adam Larson‘s band “Beyond the Boundaries” will be opening up for the Kenny Werner Quartet at The Blue Note New York as a part of Blue Note’s Emerging Artist Series.

You can order tickets at www.bluenote.net for the show. Each ticket will also give you access Kenny Werner’s set.

Voices of Ascension presents Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle (original version) with international opera superstar Jennifer Larmore.

Composed near the end of his life, Rossini’s Petite Messe is one of the most delightful and unique works in the choral repertory. A blending of two worlds of opera and choral music, it combines a serious “solennelle” style and an extroverted, openly operatic style. Like Verdi’s Requiem and Rossini’s own Stabat Mater, his Messe is endowed with an abundance of beautiful arias, quartets, and choruses. We will be performing the work in its unique original version, featuring two pianos and harmonium.

As a special prelude for the evening, the concert will begin with Franz Liszt’s extraordinary piano Paraphrase Fantasia on Verdi’s Rigoletto performed by exceptional pianists, Anna Shelest and Kana Mimaki.
